  • Over 150 key stakeholders from across the North American energy sector participating.
  • Discussions on investment trends, battery storage economics, and capacity adequacy.

AUSTIN, TEXAS (AURORA ENERGY RESEARCH)—Aurora Energy Research, the global leading power analytics provider, is excited to announce the launch of its inaugural Energy Transition Forum in New York this fall. Set to convene on Thursday, 24 October, 2024, the Forum will delve into “The State of the US Energy Transition: Opportunities and Headwinds”, marking a significant expansion of Aurora’s event portfolio to New York.

The first Forum will gather approximately 150 participants, including leading executives from various sectors of the North American energy industry, to discuss the current status of the energy transition and chart the course for its future progression.

Building upon the success of the Spring Forum in Oxford, UK, the Energy Transition Forum New York stands as one of the late additions to this year’s agenda, alongside the Energy Finance Conference in France. The Forum aims to establish itself as North America’s premier annual event in the energy sector, offering a platform for robust debates, insightful discussions, and networking opportunities.

Key topics on the agenda include the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on the energy sector, emerging investment trends, the economics of battery storage, and ensuring capacity adequacy amidst the transition. Despite the surge in renewables, the industry confronts significant challenges such as interconnection delays, insufficient transmission investment, inflationary pressures, and complexities surrounding offshore wind projects. Moreover, rising concerns over reliability stem from escalating data center loads and a challenging investment climate for new thermal projects.

The Forum will bring together major utilities, policymakers, developers, and investors, with industry leaders including Andrew Flanagan, CEO of RWE US; Elliott Mainzer, President & CEO of California ISO; Gordon van Welie, President & CEO of ISO New England; Mary Anne Brelinsky, President & CCO of Alpha Generation; Pablo Vegas, President & CEO of ERCOT; Pat Wood III, CEO of Hunt Energy Network; Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDP Renewables North America; and Thad Hill, CEO of Calpine, sharing their invaluable insights.

Oliver Kerr, Managing Director for North America, emphasized the pivotal role of the Aurora Energy Transition Forum 2024:

“We’re at a pivotal moment in the US energy transition and it’s wonderful to have this opportunity to bring together the best and brightest minds to debate the key challenges facing our industry.”

Sponsors are to be announced soon. More details can be found here.
