Gold Standard Among First to Meet Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market’s Core Carbon Principles

The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) has announced that Gold Standard is eligible for their Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) - one of the first tranche of standards to do so.

This achievement demonstrates Gold Standard's dedication to robust quantification of impact, stringent governance, transparency, and independent verification of its carbon crediting processes. 

Attaining CCP-eligibility at the first possible opportunity highlights Gold Standard's commitment to environmental integrity alongside its long-standing dedication to promoting sustainable development benefits.

Gold Standard’s CEO, Margaret Kim, said:  

Gold Standard is delighted that our program is now CCP-eligible following the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market’s assessment. We thank the Integrity Council for the collaborative way they approached this process and are pleased that we’ve been judged to comply with the CCP threshold. 

Under scoring the integrity of the carbon market so it delivers real impact where it is needed most is vital, and the CCPs represent an important step on this journey. As a pioneer of the inclusion of sustainable development and safeguarding in carbon markets, we will continue to demonstrate integrity and innovate with our partners to deliver a just transition towards global net zero, maximising sustainable development for the communities we serve.”  

The eligibility to use the CCP label on carbon credits demonstrates Gold Standard's leadership in high-integrity criteria needed for buyer confidence, and we look forward to IC-VCM's category level assessment, when we expect to label credits with CCPs and display those clearly in our impact registry....
