Modules arrive from the factory

August 15 2024

Québec’s first biomethanol production plant, Recyclage Carbone Varennes (RCV), is currently under construction. The plant will upgrade an industrial site in the region and produce biofuel from waste, biomass, and green hydrogen once it is commissioned in early 2026. Our biofuel will thus contribute to Québec’s energy transition.

This $1.3 billion investment is already generating major economic spinoffs to the tune of $652 million, 23% of which are in the Montérégie region. This is a source of great pride for us. RCV will also create 250 permanent jobs in our region.

Modules transported from the factory

A new phase has begun for Recyclage Carbone Varennes. On August 14, after months of planning and waiting, we received our first modules, consisting of large individual parts that will be used to build part of the factory. These parts are essential to RCV’s future activities.

Between August and September, the modules will be shipped from the port of Contrecœur to the Varennes plant, where our team will assemble them. Each convoy will consist of approximately four trucks, each carrying one module. Since these parts exceed usual dimensions for transporting goods, the convoy will have a police escort.

The convoys are scheduled to run three times a week between August and October. To minimize the impact on traffic, the modules will be transported overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The RCV team is aware that transporting these large parts could generate noise and light. Rest assured that we are doing everything possible to minimize these impacts, and that all travel arrangements have been made in close collaboration with the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable, as well as relevant authorities.

If you have any questions about the transport of these modules, please contact info@recyclagecarbone.com. We will be happy to answer you....
