25 Jul 2024

On 25 July, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband announced the partnership between Great British Energy and The Crown Estate, investing billions into clean power and driving Great Britain’s energy independence.

Fintan Slye, Chief Executive Officer at the ESO said:

“At the Electricity System Operator (ESO), we warmly welcome the partnership between Great British Energy and The Crown Estate.

We look forward to working with Great British Energy, the Crown Estate, Government and the energy industry to unblock the critical challenges to delivering clean power by 2030 and beyond.”

Great British Energy

When we become the National Energy System Operator (NESO) this year, we’ll become an independent, public corporation responsible for planning Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.

Working closely with Great British Energy will be vital to ensuring that Britain’s energy system is secure and affordable as we forge a path to a sustainable future for everyone.
